Product Description
The Tumor Associated Glycoprotein [B72.3] antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody developed for the detection of a high molecular weight (>1,000 kDa) oncofetal glycoprotein known as TAG-72. TAG-72 exhibits properties consistent with a mucin-like glycoprotein and is associated with various human adenocarcinomas.16
TAG-72 expression has been observed in the majority of adenocarcinomas, including those originating in the colorectal, pancreatic, gastric, ovarian, endometrial, mammary, and non-small cell lung tissues. In contrast, weak or no reactivity has been noted in most normal adult tissues, with the exception of secretory endometrium. Additionally, approximately 60% of carcinoma patients exhibit TAG-72 expression in serum.16
The immunohistochemical (IHC) detection of TAG-72 using the B72.3 antibody may be used as an aid in identifying adenocarcinomas. It has been reported to be useful in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas, which may stain positively with B72.3, from pleural mesotheliomas, which typically do not express TAG-72.15-16
