Stomach cancers are the fifteenth most diagnosed cancer in the United States, with about 7.4% of new cancer cases classified as stomach and contributing toward 3.4% of cancer deaths yearly. As of 2012, there were approximately 77,000 people living with stomach cancer in the United States. Those diagnosed with stomach cancer have a 5 year survival rates of only 29.3%. Over the last 10 years, the rate of new stomach cancer cases has fallen 1.5% per year, while the death rate has fallen 3% per year.
