The Biocare Cytokeratin 7 [BC1] antibody detects cytokeratin 7, a 54 kDa intermediate filament protein expressed in simple epithelia of most glandular and transitional tissues, but not in stratified squamous epithelia.15-17 This rabbit monoclonal antibody is highly specific for cytokeratin 7 and does not cross react with other intermediate filament proteins. Cytokeratin 7 is expressed in epithelial cells of the ovary, lung, and breast. It is frequently used in combination with cytokeratin 20 and CDX-2 to distinguish CK7-positive carcinomas of pulmonary, ovarian, or breast origin from CK7- negative colon carcinomas.15-17
