Liver cancer stained with Glypican-3 antibody

Glypican-3 (GPC3)

Glypican-3 (GPC3), a member of the glypican family of glycosyl phosphatidylinositol-anchored cell-surface heparin sulfate proteoglycans, plays an important role in cell growth and differentiation.15 Using the 1G12 monoclonal antibody, GPC3 has been identified as a useful tumor marker for the diagnosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), hepatoblastoma, melanoma, testicular germ cell tumors, and Wilms’ tumor.15-18

As of 2011, there were approximately 402,000 people living with lung cancer in the United States. Those diagnosed with lung cancer have a 5 year survival rates […]

Liver cancer stained with Hepatocyte Specific Antigen Antibody (HSA)

Hepatocyte Specific Antigen

Hepatocyte Specific Antigen (HSA) is considered specific for normal and neoplastic hepatocytes.15 Expression has been demonstrated consistently in the majority of hepatocellular carcinomas.15,17,18 Studies have shown HSA can be used in a panel with Glypican-3, CEA, CK7, AFP and CD10.16,18

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) stained with Arginase-1 Antibody

Arginase-1

Arginase-1 (ARG-1) is a key enzyme of the urea cycle found in liver that catalyzes the conversion of L-arginine into L-ornithine and urea. ARG-1 is a highly specific and sensitive marker of benign and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) which is now a key target for the differential diagnosis of HCC from metastatic tumors to the liver.15-17 […]
