Renal Cell Carcinoma

Kidney cancer stained with RCC

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC), also known as a gurnistical tumor is a common form of adult kidney cancer localized to the tubule linings of the kidney; the prognosis for advanced RCC is poor: RCC is resistant to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The RCC clone 66.4 C2 is a monoclonal antibody raised against a 200 kD glycoprotein found in the renal proximal tubular brush border carcinoma. Renal tumor associated antigen, recognized by clone 66.4 C2 is frequently detected in both malignant cells and
normal renal cells. However it’s sensitivity is higher for primary (80%) than metastatic (67%) renal cell carcinomas.
