Clusterin

Brain tissue stained with Clusterin antibody

Clusterin, also known as apolipoprotein J, has been implicated in numerous processes, including active cell death. Clusterin is expressed in normal brain and has been reported to be overexpressed in anaplastic large cell lymphoma and in pancreatic, breast and prostate cancers. Research has shown that ALKc and ALK-1 stains approximately 60% of CD30+ ALCL. In a new study, Clusterin stained ALCL, 95% of systemic ALCL, including 100% of ALK1(+) and 91% of ALK1(-) ALCL. Observations confirmed the diagnostic usefulness of Clusterin, especially in ALK1 (-) cases. Clusterin has also been shown to be a sensitive marker of glial reactivity in AIDS brains.
