Ber-EP4 Description Ber-EP4 recognizes two glycoproteins of 34 and 49 kDa present on the surface and the cytoplasm of all epithelial cells except the superficial layers of squamous epithelial, hepatocytes and parietal cells. It does not label mesothelial cells and rarely marks mesotheliomas. It shows a broad spectrum of reactivity with human epithelial cells including simple epithelia and basal layers of stratified non-keratinized squamous epithelium and epidermis. Other similar antibodies include: AUA1, ESA [VU-1D9] and MOC-31. Ber-EP4 reportedly distinguishes between adenocarcinomas from pleural mesotheliomas. |
